Pair with Android TV

Through Bluetooth®, you can connect your headphones wirelessly to your TV.


Applicable products

This type of connection is limited to Android TV devices that supports A2DP Bluetooth profile.
A separate article is available if you want to know which Android TV models support the A2DP profile and can be paired with headphones.




Step 1: Set the headphones in pairing mode

Check the steps below depending on the model of your headphones. For model-specific information, check your device manual. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

  • Truly wireless type

    E.g. For WF-1000XM3
    If you open the charging case and take out the headphones (L/R), they turn on automatically and the indicator flash.
    When you wear them and touch and hold the left and right touch sensors at the same time for about seven seconds, you will hear the voice guidance Bluetooth Pairing from the left side, and the headphones will go into pairing mode.


 

  • Neckband type

    E.g. For WI-1000X
    If you press and hold the Power button on the headphones for about seven seconds, the indicator will flash alternately in blue and red, you will hear the voice guidance Bluetooth Pairing, and the headphones will go into pairing mode.

  • For over headband models
    If you press and hold the Power button or PAIRING button on the headphones for about seven seconds, the indicator will flash and the headphones will go into pairing mode. The flash indicator varies depending on the model.

Note: When pairing a newly purchased device for the first time, or after resetting the headphones, the headphones will go into pairing mode automatically when you turn them on.



Step 2: Pair the headphones with the TV

Note: The instructions below are performed on an Android TV with Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.
The TV menu vary depending on the version of the operating system.
  1. Set the TV to pairing mode.

    Press the HOME button on the remote control, select  Settings → Remote and Accessories → Bluetooth setting → Add device, and press the ENTER button.


    This will set the TV to pairing mode.
  2. Pair the headphones with the TV.
    Place the headphones within one meter from the TV.


    When the TV detects the headphones, the device name of the headphones will be appear at the upper right portion of the TV screen.
    Select it and press the ENTER button.


    If the text under the device name changes to Paired and a message Bluetooth connection is complete appears on the screen, the pairing is complete.


    Use the TV remote control to select the desired program or connected device input, and check if audio is heard from the headphones.


    If you pair the headphones once, you don't need to pair them again.
    A separate article is available if you want to reconnect a Bluetooth device to the TV.


    • You can adjust the volume with the TV remote control, but the actual volume is different from the volume indicator displayed on the TV screen. 
      *Depending on the headphones, there are some models whose volume cannot be adjusted with the TV remote control. In such cases, change the volume with the headphones.
    • You can only pair one Bluetooth headphones to the TV at a time.
